Donnafugata's Moscato Kabir was obtained from 100% Moscato di Alessandria grapes, also known as Zibibbo, grown on the splendid island of Pantelleria, part of Western Sicily. The original vineyards insist on sandy lava soils, very rich in minerals and are located at an average altitude between 200 and 400 meters above sea level. Here the vines are grown with the ancient "sapling" system, inside real basins, to protect the plants from the wind that always blows fiercely on the island of Pantelleria. The attention towards extreme quality was evident starting from the vineyard where the yield per hectare was very low, equal to around 50-60 quintals per hectare. For this sweet nectar, the alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature of 14-16°C. Before being marketed, the wine was aged for 3 months in steel and finally for 3 months in the bottle.
MOSCATO DI PANTELLERIA KABIR DONNAFUGATA: THE TASTING
The Moscato di Pantelleria Kabir by Donnafugata announces itself in the glass with a brilliant straw yellow color. On the nose it releases aromas of passion fruit and tropical yellow fruit combined with fragrant floral hints of orange blossom and clear savory notes. When tasted, the natural sweetness is well balanced with the acidity, and a full and enveloping taste emerges, playing on mineral, fruity and spicy notes. Long and persistent finish. At the table it goes well with goat's and blue cheeses. Also excellent in combination with smoked fish and, as per tradition, dry pastries and desserts.
