Gewürztraminer from Terlano has been produced since 1956 at altitudes between 250 and 900 meters above sea level. The 2018 vintage was an "extreme" year, characterized by snow and rain until March, high temperatures in the following months, hail in June, scorching heat in July and August, and rain in September. The robustness of the Terlano vineyards and the skill of the winemakers still allowed for the harvest of healthy grapes in good quantities. The harvest began on August 22; it was followed by gentle whole-cluster pressing and clarification through natural sedimentation. The fermentation was slow, at controlled temperatures, in stainless steel tanks. The aging occurred for 6 months on fine lees in steel barrels.
GEWÜRZTRAMINER TERLANO: THE TASTING
The Gewürztraminer from Terlano presents an intense and bright straw yellow. On the nose, it is captivating, with hints of lychee and mango, honeysuckle, rose petals, and cloves. On the palate, it is fresh, extremely flavorful, aromatic, and long. Excellent, (I recommend) served not below 10°C, in the company of dishes with Asian influences, such as Zereschk Polo: steamed basmati rice garnished with barberry, called Zereshk in Persian, and saffron chicken.
