The Fiano di Avellino Sant'Aniello di Vigne Guadagno comes from a vineyard between 500 and 550 meters above sea level in the municipality of Montefredane, the heart of the denomination, with clayey-marly soils with a light skeleton. The brothers Giuseppe and Pasquale Guadagno, entrepreneurs in another field, out of innate curiosity and desire to try their hand at new activities, came into possession, over 10 years ago, of a Fiano vineyard in Irpinia right in the municipality of Montefredane, the heart of the area of the Fiano di Avellino docg. This will only be the first step: having fallen in love with this vineyard and reconnected with the land, they choose to take over a Greco di Tufo vineyard in Santa Paolina, an Aglianico vineyard in Montemarano for the production of Taurasi, then still other vineyards in neighboring areas , like this one in Contrada Sant'Aniello. The grapes are harvested at the beginning of October, delicately pressed and left briefly for skin maceration in the press. The must is then clarified by decantation and fermented at a controlled temperature; the refinement lasts 12 months sur lie in steel tanks and another 12 months once in the bottle.
FIANO DI AVELLINO SANT'ANIELLO VIGNE GUADAGNO: TASTING
The Fiano di Avellino Contrada Sant'Aniello di Vigne Guadagno has a light and bright gold color. On the nose they involve intriguing aromas of smoke, beeswax, ripe pear and a whiff of acacia honey. The smoky note of flint is found on the palate, elegant and severe, tasty of ripe apple, with the freshness of citrus peel and soft notes of honey; a hazelnut note pleasantly accompanies the finish. Very good with stewed rabbit and polenta.
