Golan Heights Winery's Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the interesting Israeli wines imported and distributed by Yarden, a New York project. Galilee (or Galil) is the northernmost and generally considered the best denomination in Israel. The highest quality area within the denomination is that encompassing the Golan Heights (or simply the Golan), the coldest region of the state. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 400 to 1,200 meters above sea level, and frequently receive snowfall in winter. Golan Heights Winery is located in the town of Katzrin in the central Golan Heights. The Golan Cabernet Sauvignon is made from harvested vineyards in the Golan Heights and from a vineyard in the Upper Galilee. The wine ages for 18 months in French oak barrels.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON GOLAN HEIGHTS: THE TASTING
Golan Height Winery's Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense and bright ruby color. The nose has attractive notes of raspberry, cherry and blackberry, complemented by hints of chocolate, mint and spices. In the mouth it has discreet body, delicate tannins and lingering fruit and spiciness. An excellent and original Cabernet, it goes wonderfully with braised beef, with lamb chops with sage, as well as with escalopes with mushrooms.
