The Gewürztraminer from the Abbey of Novacella is produced from the vineyards of Varna, an inclined amphitheater above the complex of the ancient magnificent Abbey, at an altitude between 600 and 750 meters, with a South - South-West exposure, on gravel, silt, and sand soils of morainic origin. A scenario of great charm and mysticism; try to walk through the buildings of the complex, from the courtyard with the Well of Wonders, to the late Baroque conventual church, to the flowered cemetery and climb to the back, enter the vineyards and walk along the walls of the gardens of the Augustinian Canons: you will understand. The grapes are harvested in early October and vinified in steel. The wine ages for 6 months in steel before being released for sale.
GEWURZTRAMINER ABBEY OF NOVACELLA: THE TASTING
The Gewürztraminer from the Abbey of Novacella has a beautiful straw yellow color with golden reflections; on the nose, it is rich with its beautiful varietal aromas: rose, lychee, grapefruit accompanied by a sweet spice of vanilla and cloves. On the palate, it is soft, pleasantly aromatic, and quite long. Good with shrimp and curry risotto, or with fresh tagliolini with basil and lobster.
