The Gewürztraminer Praepositus from Abbazia di Novacella is made from 100% Gewürztraminer grapes grown in the Varna area, in the province of Bolzano. The original vineyards, consisting of 20-25 year old vines with a southern and southwest exposure, are situated on soils characterized by morainic deposits, rich in mica schist, paragneiss, and quartzite, at an altitude of 600 to 650 meters above sea level. After harvesting, the grapes underwent vinification in stainless steel. Before commercialization, the Gewürztraminer Alto Adige DOC Praepositus from Abbazia di Novacella aged for 6 months in stainless steel plus 1 month in the bottle. The Praepositus line from Abbazia di Novacella refers to wines produced from the best company vineyards.
GEWÜRZTRAMINER PRAEPOSITUS ABBATIA DI NOVACELLA: THE TASTING
The Gewürztraminer Praepositus from Abbazia di Novacella presents itself in the glass with a straw yellow color and golden reflections. On the nose, it expresses aromas of lychee and tropical yellow-fleshed fruit intertwined with floral notes of rose and delicate hints of sage and ginger. The sip is pleasant, enhanced by an elegant and aromatic taste and a gentle minerality that lingers in the finish. Excellent as an aperitif, it pairs well at the table with semi-aged and blue cheeses as well as with vegetarian dishes and tasty seafood recipes based on white fish, mollusks, and crustaceans.
