Alois Lageder's Sauvignon is the result of the interaction between grapes from different terroirs, predominantly sandy and gravelly. This vine, which arrived in Alto Adige at the end of the nineteenth century, was cultivated for a long time almost exclusively in Terlano, near Bolzano, on sandy soils of volcanic origin, but in reality, it also develops excellent qualities on calcareous soils. Tenuta Lageder grows Sauvignon in Terlano, in fact, but also in Magrè, Cortaccia and Termeno, with altitudes ranging between 250 and 520 meters above sea level. The fermentation of the grapes takes place in steel at a controlled temperature, and the wine ages in steel for approximately 4 months on the fine lees. SAUVIGNON ALOIS LAGEDER: TASTING Alois Lageder's Sauvignon enters the glass with a brilliant straw yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose it expresses itself with elegance, moderating and modulating the varietal characters: a smoky aura envelops mint, lemon balm, boxwood and orange blossom, with hints of mango, passion fruit and grapefruit. The mouth is fresh and tasty, with excellent balance and an extension of the fruit. Very good both with vegetable and fish-based dishes and with white meats; to give some examples: fresh tagliolini with artichokes and pink prawns or the classic, much-loved scallops with lemon.
