Argiano's Brunello di Montalcino 2018 was awarded the Best Wine in the World by the annual Wine Spectator ranking, which draws up the list of the 100 best wines in the world.
The Brunello di Montalcino di Argiano 2018 was produced from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes. The reference vineyards, grown with an organic approach, develop on soils composed of ancient marl and clay with a high concentration of limestone, at an altitude between 280 and 310 meters above sea level. The red vinification included a cold pre-fermentative maceration phase which favored the extraction of the primary aromas. The alcoholic fermentation lasted for 2 weeks in stainless steel and was followed by malolactic fermentation in concrete tanks. The refinement lasted 30 months in Slavonian oak barrels of different capacities. Bottling was carried out following the phases of the moon.
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO ARGIANO 2018: THE TASTING
The Brunello di Argiano 2018 shines in the glass with a ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it expresses aromas of morello cherry and ripe berries combined with floral hints of violet and hints of noble woods and dark spices. Notes of balsamic herbs and undergrowth complement the olfactory profile. The sip is deep and silky, enhanced by elegant tannins and a gentle minerality that persists in the long fruity and spicy finish. At the table it goes well with mature cheeses as well as rich land dishes based on red meat or game.
