The Merlot Casalferro di Ricasoli 1141 is a wine with a consolidated reputation. The vineyards are located on two geological formations: Macigno del Chianti (sandstone) and Monte Morello (alberese). Vigna Sodacci, 500 meters above sea level, has soil characterized by the presence of sand and stones (sandstones), well drained and poor in organic substance; Vigna Pecchierino, 400 m above sea level, has calcareous clay soil (alberese), very stony, rich in calcium carbonate and clay, and poor in organic substance; Vigna Casalferro, 400 meters above sea level, finally has soil characterized by the co-presence of sandstone and alberese. The grapes are harvested in mid-September, respecting the times of each vineyard. Fermentation is carried out with temperature control and macerations for 14-18 days, then the wine ages for 18 months in 30% new tonneaux.

Ricasoli's Merlot Casalferro is bright ruby. On the nose it blends the fruit of black cherry and blueberry syrup with bay leaves and mint balms, wisteria and lavender flowers with the spices of pepper, cinnamon and star anise, underlining the Tuscan character with hints of minerals and pickled olives. In the mouth it has great elegance, with contained alcohol mass, integrated tannin and vibrant savory matrix. Delicious with pulled pork.
