Etna Rosso Contrada Cavaliere di Benanti comes from a vineyard in Contrada Cavaliere, on the south-west side of Etna, within the territory of the municipality of Santa Maria di Licodia (CT), particularly suited to its high altitude (900 m above sea level) and abundant brightness. The vine is pure Nerello Mascalese, from approximately 50-year-old vines trained in espalier. The soil is sandy volcanic, rich in minerals and skeleton and with excellent draining capacity and the climate is mountainous, with little rain, with high ventilation and very significant temperature variations. The grapes are harvested around mid-October; the fermentation takes place in steel at a controlled temperature with maceration for approximately 21 days and yeast selected in the company. The wine matures in French oak tonneaux for 12 months and then in steel before being bottled for a further 10 months of refinement.

Etna Rosso Contrada Cavaliere di Benanti has a ruby red color. The nose is broad, slightly ethereal, with notes of nutmeg, cloves, lavender, black cherry in alcohol, Mediterranean scrub, tobacco and smoke. In the mouth it has vigorous, well-integrated tannin, it is fresh, savory and has a mineral finish. Very good with mature local pecorino cheese, as with roast pigeon.
