The Catarratto Branciforti dei Bordonaro comes from the lush hills of Tenuta di Gelso Grande, 300 meters above the sea, on medium-textured soils tending towards clayey. We are in the Trapani countryside, between Mount Erice and the Egadi Islands, with constant ventilation coming from the sea. Harvested in the third ten days of September, Catarratto is vinified in steel vats with temperature control (the temperature control serves to ensure that the fermentation develops slowly and constantly and that there are no fermentation blocks, with the death of the wine yeasts and the possible triggering of fermentations by other fungi or unsuitable bacteria; in the case of whites and rosés, it is also particularly important to preserve the aromas). The wine ages for a first month on the lees, in steel and another month in the bottle.
CATARRATTO BRANCIFORTI DEI BORDONARO: THE TASTING
Catarratto Branciforti has a straw yellow color with faint golden reflections; on the nose it is flowery with orange blossom and wisteria, with hints of aromatic herbs and balsamic seeds. In the mouth it is fresh and balanced, with a slight salty hint, perfect to accompany a start to a dinner with raw seafood, but also a delicate first course, such as penne with crab.
