Ca' Marcanda Gaja's Promis was produced from Merlot (55%), Syrah (35%) and Sangiovese (10%) grapes grown in the Bolgheri area in the province of Livorno. After the harvest, which was followed by a further and careful selection of the bunches, the grapes were sent for winemaking inspired by minimal interventionism, as was the work in the vineyard. After the alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation phases, the Promis Toscana Rosso IGT 2017 by Ca' Marcanda Gaja was aged for 18 months in French oak barriques. This Tuscan red, proud and elegant, represents a real challenge - launched and won - by the king of Piedmontese Barbaresco Angelo Gaja who decided to bring his brand of excellence to another land with a very high wine-growing vocation: Tuscany.
PROMIS CA' MARCANDA GAJA: TASTING
The Promis by Ca' Marcanda Gaja presents an intense ruby red color in the glass. On the nose it expresses aromas of morello cherries and small ripe red berries which combine with timid balsamic hints and clear notes of black pepper and dark oriental spices. The taste is rich and enveloping, supported by a smooth tannic texture and a gentle freshness combined with an elegant minerality that persists in the finish. At the table it pairs well with succulent land recipes based on red meat or game.
