Casisano's Brunello di Montalcino comes from vineyards surrounded by centuries-old woods, at 480 meters above sea level, on the hills south-east of Montalcino. We are in front of Sant'Angelo in Colle and the Abbey of Sant'Antimo, in the direction of Monte Amiata, an extinct volcano, a sacred place for the ancient Etruscans. The terrain is a mosaic of marl, sandstone, marl and tuff of volcanic origin. The climate benefits from Mediterranean breezes, remaining well ventilated and dry with optimal daytime excursions that protect the healthiness of the plants. The grapes are selected from various plots among the 9 hectares registered in the Brunello di Montalcino Register. The winemaking follows the traditional process, with maceration on the skins for approximately 25 days, maturation for 3 years in Slavonian oak barrels with a maximum capacity of 60 hl and refinement in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months.
BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO CASISANO: TASTING
Podere Casisano's Brunello di Montalcino is ruby tending towards garnet. The nose is dominated by cherry, followed by raspberry and blackberry, then notes of undergrowth, tobacco leaves and hints of ripe blood orange open up. The sip is warm and enveloping, balanced and with tannins already well integrated. Very good in the company of seared pork fillet with mustard.
