Anthìlia by Donnafugata is a wine now known in more than sixty countries around the world. Produced since 1995, it is mainly composed of Catarratto, accompanied by small percentages of other local vines. The label is the face of a woman, mysterious and elusive like the civilization of the Elimi, an ancient people of western Sicily who founded Entella, in the area where the Donnafugata vineyards are located today. Anthìlia is the name given in Roman times to the city of Entella at the top of the fortress of the same name. We are in south-western Sicily, between 200 and 400 meters above the sea, on clayey soils rich in nutritional elements; the climate is mild, with strong day-night temperature variations. The grapes are harvested in the first ten days of September and fermented in steel at a controlled temperature; the wine then ages in the tank for about 2 months and a further 2 in the bottle.
ANTHÌLIA DONNAFUGATA: TASTING
Anthìlia by Donnafugata has a brilliant straw yellow color. On the nose it offers a fresh and fragrant bouquet with notes of white pulp fruit, peach and pear first and foremost, combined with hints of wild flowers and aromatic herbs, with pleasant mineral hints. In the mouth it has balance, with citrus freshness and a light inviting flavor. Perfect on the beach at sunset, paired with a parcel of fried prawns and calamari.
