The Sedàra Sicilia DOC by Donnafugata is an enchanting red wine that embodies the essence of Sicily and the distinctive character of the Donnafugata winery. Predominantly made from Nero d'Avola grapes, the wine is a harmonious blend that may also include international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. The grapes come from vineyards located in southwestern Sicily, particularly in the Contessa Entellina estate, where the Mediterranean climate and fertile soils promote optimal ripening. The vinification process of Sedàra involves fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by aging for about 8 months in cement tanks and another 6 months in bottles. This method helps preserve the freshness and vibrancy of the fruit, giving the wine a balanced structure and a complex aromatic profile.
