Elena Walch's Lagrein comes from 100% Lagrein grapes grown on calcareous soils characterized by deep clay and sandy layers. After the manual harvest, the bunches were transported to the cellar for winemaking. The alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature with maceration of the must on the skins for 10 days. The malolactic fermentation, which softened the aromatic and structural edges of the wine, took place in 22 and 70 hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels. Aging for a few months in wooden barrels.
LAGREIN SOUTH TYROL ELENA WALCH: TASTING
Elena Walch's Lagrein Alto Adige is ruby red in color with garnet reflections. The nose opens with aromas of ripe berries which combine with hints of red flowers and notes of cocoa and dark spices. The taste is soft and full-bodied, supported by structured tannins. The fruity and spacious finish is gentle. At the table it goes well with mature cheeses as well as first and second courses based on red meat or game.
