The Pinot Noir IGT Malcompare is one of the most ambitious and surprising expressions of Umbrian winemaking, the result of Arnaldo Caprai's innovative vision. Born in the heart of the Monte della Torre estate, in the Gualdo Cattaneo area, this Pinot Noir develops in a unique terroir, where altitude (over 400 meters above sea level), exposure, and temperature fluctuations favor the perfect maturation of the Burgundy grape. The soils, characterized by clays mixed with calcareous and sandy sediments, give the wine a marked elegance and complexity. The approach in the vineyard and cellar is meticulous: low yields, manual harvesting, fermentation in truncated-conical tanks with indigenous yeasts, and aging in barriques for about a year. The Malcompare represents a successful challenge to interpret Pinot Noir in an unusual territorial context, with surprising results for finesse, freshness, and depth. Pinot Noir IGT Malcompare – Arnaldo Caprai: Tasting notes The Malcompare presents itself with a bright and transparent ruby red color. On the nose, it impresses with aromatic refinement: notes of wild strawberries, crunchy cherry, and raspberry emerge, followed by delicate floral nuances of rose and violet, along with spicy hints of white pepper, licorice, and underbrush. On the palate, it is silky, fresh, and well-balanced, with very fine tannins and a mineral vein that amplifies its elegance. The finish is long, harmonious, and slightly balsamic. It pairs magnificently with refined dishes such as carpaccios, braised game, and soft cheeses.
