The Lusirà Syrah DOC Sicilia is the highest expression of Syrah according to Baglio del Cristo di Campobello, one of the most representative wineries in the Sicilian wine scene. Located between Agrigento and Campobello di Licata, the Bonetta family's estate combines tradition and innovation, enhancing the characteristics of the territory with a respectful and sustainable approach. The name Lusirà is a phonetic play that evokes the grape variety from which it originates and the intense "light" that characterizes these sun-drenched lands. The Syrah grapes, grown in calcareous-sandy soils rich in minerals, mature slowly, offering aromatic concentration and a perfect balance between power and elegance. The aging in French oak barrels for about 14 months gives the wine complexity and depth, making it one of the most iconic reds of contemporary Sicily.
Lusirà Syrah DOC Sicilia: Tasting notes
In the glass, it presents a deep and bright ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses an intense and refined bouquet, with hints of blackberry, plum, black cherry, black pepper, and sweet spices, accompanied by elegant balsamic and toasted nuances. On the palate, it is full, velvety, and structured, with soft and well-integrated tannins that support a harmonious and persistent body. The finish is long, warm, and mineral, with notes of cocoa and licorice. Lusirà is a Syrah of extraordinary personality, ideal with red meats, game, or aged cheeses. Best enjoyed in a large red wine glass, between 16 and 18°C, preferably by 2032, in the company of those who appreciate the intensity and refinement of great Mediterranean reds.
