The Catarratto Lucido Sicilia DOC by Cusumano represents one of the freshest, most modern, and luminous interpretations of the great native Sicilian grape variety. The company, one of the most dynamic in the region, has managed to enhance the potential of Catarratto Lucido by focusing on vineyards located at higher altitudes, where the breezy climate and temperature variations promote excellent aromatic expression. The production philosophy is oriented towards purity and elegance: vineyard work prioritizes practices that respect the land, while in the winery, steel fermentation preserves the freshness, fragrance, and integrity of the fruit. Cusumano has chosen to give Catarratto a contemporary style, capable of telling the story of Sicily in a light, fragrant, and immediate way, without sacrificing structure and personality. The result is a versatile wine, gastronomic and perfect for pairing with Mediterranean cuisine, ideal for those looking to discover an authentic white, rich in character and at the same time extremely drinkable.
Catarratto Lucido Sicilia DOC – Cusumano: Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine presents a bright straw yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, it opens with intense citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit, followed by hints of white flowers, aromatic herbs, and delicate mineral nuances. There are also hints of green apple and white peach, completing a fresh and inviting aromatic profile. On the palate, Catarratto Lucido stands out for its pleasant salinity and lively acidity that adds momentum and precision to the sip. The structure is balanced, with a persistent finish characterized by citrus returns and a subtle marine note. It is a perfect white for seafood appetizers, raw fish, fresh salads, and slightly spiced dishes, ideal to be enjoyed young to fully appreciate its vibrant energy.
