Giacomo Conterno's Barbera d'Alba “Vigna Cerretta” is an elegant and intense version of this traditional Piedmontese wine, which highlights all its extraordinary expressive potential. The long aging in large barrels, allows Barbera to smooth its edges and to temper its lively youthful exuberance to acquire the face of a great aging red.
It is a red of great elegance, harmony and warmth, born in one of the most important Giacomo Conterno crus. On the nose it reveals floral scents, notes of cherry, black cherry and spices with mentholated echoes and toasted nuances. The taste is impeccable for balance and refinement, with a warm, full-bodied, long and enveloping softness sip, with perfectly smooth tannins.

The story of Giacomo Conterno dates back to 1908 when Giovanni Conterno first opened a small inn in the little village of San Giuseppe at the gates of Monforte d'Alba in Piedmont. To keep his inn stocked with wine, he began making his own, and winemaking soon became the family business, with his son Giacomo taking over when his father passed away in 1934. Giovanni Conterno, the eldest son of Giacomo, was a legendary figure in Barolo due to his lifelong dedication to the art of winemaking and the preservation of the ancient viticultural traditions of the region. The business is now in the capable hands of Giovanni's son, Roberto, who continues his father's winemaking approach with traditional techniques applied to produce incredibly ageworthy and complex wines. Considered one of the most traditional producers of Barolo, Roberto's wines enjoy cult status in Italy and in private cellars around the world.
