The Etna Rosso di Idda is made from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes. The reference vineyards are located in the municipality of Biancavilla (CT), on the southwest slope of Etna, at an altitude between 700 and 800 meters above sea level. During red winemaking, alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by maceration of the must on the skins for 3 weeks, took place partly in stainless steel and partly in cement. The aging lasted 24 months, partly in wood and partly in cement.
ETNA ROSSO IDDA: TASTING
The Etna Rosso di Idda presents a ruby red color with bright reflections. On the nose, it showcases aromas of mulberry, sour cherry, and small ripe red fruits that combine with herbal and sulfur hints, along with notes of marzipan and dark spices. The taste is enveloping and profoundly mineral, with gentle freshness and mature tannic structure. It has a long fruity finish with flintstone echoes. At the table, it pairs well with cheeses and hearty dishes based on red meats or game.
