La Valentina's Montepulciano Riserva Spelt was obtained from 100% Montepulciano grapes. The original vineyards extend for 20 hectares between the municipalities of Spoltore, San Valentino and Scafa (PE) on clayey soils, at an altitude between 150 and 400 meters above sea level. The harvest was carried out by hand during the first week of October. During winemaking, the alcoholic fermentation with maceration of the must on the skins is continued for approximately 3 weeks in stainless steel vats. The refinement took place for 16 months, partly in 25 hectoliter oak barrels and partly in both new and second-use barriques and tonneaux. Before marketing, La Valentina's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva Spelt rested for 12 months in the bottle.
MONTEPULCIANO RISERVA SPELT LA VALENTINA: TASTING
La Valentina's Montepucliano d'Abruzzo Riserva Spelt is an intense ruby red colour. On the nose it releases aromas of ripe posco fruits and potpourri of rose and violet followed by hints of aromatic herbs and evolved notes of leather, tobacco and dark spices. The taste is soft and structured, with a solid tannic texture and a persistent finish of liquorice and cherry. At the table it is perfect in combination with mature cheeses or opulent land dishes based on red meat.
