Syrah Maroccoli by Planeta is a historic label of the company, in production since 1999. The Planeta family has always believed in this vine for its ability to express itself in bright and dry places, such as Sicily. Maroccoli is a very beautiful vineyard in the municipality of Sambuca di Sicilia, about 400 m above sea level, with soil rich in skeleton, medium clay with an abundant silty fraction. The harvest takes place in mid-September; the grapes are processed in the Ulmo district cellar. The bunches are destemmed and pressed, then fermented and macerated for 3 weeks at 25°C; after racking, the malolactic fermentation is carried out in steel and wood, while the subsequent 14-month refinement takes place in barriques (30% new).

Syrah Maroccoli has an intense ruby red color; it is enveloping on the nose, with notes of black pepper and sweet exotic spices, cocoa, blackberry jam and leather. On the sip it is persuasive, quite fresh, with a balsamic aftertaste on aromatic herbs and pepper. Excellent, slightly refreshed, with chestnut flour ravioli, filled with ricotta and gnepitella, with lamb ragout.
