The Amarone della Valpolicella by Giuseppe Quintarelli is made up of 55% Corvina grapes, 30% Rondinella, and 15% a mix of Cabernet, Nebbiolo, Croatina, and Sangiovese. We are in Negrar, on volcanic and limestone hills. The harvest takes place starting from mid-September. The grapes are carefully selected and slowly dried in traditional fruit drying rooms until the desired weight loss and chemical composition are achieved. After a maceration of nearly 3 weeks, the alcoholic fermentation lasts for about 45 days at natural temperatures (we are in the early months of the year, so temperatures are very low; according to regulations, the grapes dried to produce “Amarone della Valpolicella” cannot be vinified before December 1st); after malolactic fermentation, the wine matures in medium-small Slavonian oak barrels for 7 years.
AMARONE DELLA VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO QUINTARELLI: THE TASTING
Quintarelli's Amarone Classico shows in the glass a deep garnet red color. On the nose, it is intense with aromas of cherry and spirit-soaked syrupy plums, toasted almond, underbrush, quinine balsams, and rhubarb, dark spices; a nose in motion, worth returning to multiple times. On the palate, it is full and velvety, rich in flavor, fresh, and with a present but well-integrated tannin. To be paired with braised wild boar.

The Quintarelli Giuseppe Winery is located in Cerè di Negrar, on Mount Cà Paletta, on East side of the Negrar valley. The vineyard breeding system is, in the old plants, in Pergola Veronese and, in the new ones, in Guyot. Two characteristics accompany the wines produced by the company: a natural predisposition to very long aging, which leads to improvement of the product even over twenty years, and a surprising liveliness , which are expressed for a long time after opening the bottle.
