The Pinot Noir from San Michele Appiano is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown in the territories of Caldaro and Appiano, in the province of Bolzano. The originating vineyards include vines aged between 5 and 25 years, with south, southeast, and southwest exposure, and are situated on morainic deposits and gravelly-limestone soils, at an altitude ranging from 400 to 550 meters above sea level. After hand harvesting, carried out in the first half of September, the grapes underwent vinification which included a phase of alcoholic fermentation in steel. Before bottling, the Pinot Noir Alto Adige DOC 2018 from San Michele Appiano aged for 4-6 months in large barrels.
PINOT NOIR SAN MICHELE APPIANO: THE TASTING
The Pinot Noir from San Michele Appiano presents itself in the glass with a light garnet red color. On the nose, it releases aromas of blackberries, raspberries, and small berries intertwined with floral notes of violet and gentle hints of oriental spices. The palate is harmonious and elegant, supported by lively yet well-integrated tannins and a gentle fresh-salty trail that lingers in the finish. At the table, it pairs well with aged cheeses and flavorful meat-based dishes featuring red meats and game.
