Sansilvestro's Barbera d'Asti is produced on the hills of Asti and Alessandria, which have always been suited to the cultivation of the Barbera vine. Barbera is today the most widespread vine in Piedmont, both in terms of surface area and territory, famous for its robustness and productivity. The compactness of its bunches makes it easily recognisable, as do its leaves which turn red in autumn and make the hills shine with bright colours. These grapes, intended for the production of a fresh and immediate wine, are vinified in steel; the wine is then aged for approximately 4 months in French oak.
BARBERA D'ASTI SANSILVESTRO: TASTING
The Barbera d'Asti di San Silvestro has a beautiful, intense and lively ruby red colour. On the nose it offers sensations of ripe cherries, currants, raspberries and plums, then rose petals, medicinal herbs and touches of sweet spices. In the mouth it is lively, with soft tannins and exuberant freshness. A very versatile wine, it is perfect for a late snack with semi-seasoned Piedmont salami, as at the table, with agnolotti del plin with roast sauce.
