The Gattinara Tre Vigne by Travaglini is a classic label from the winery that comes from the union of Nebbiolo grapes sourced from three historic vineyards in Gattinara. Lurghe is the vineyard with the most clayey soil, important for the color contribution to the wine; Permolone is the oldest, with rocky soil, which adds complexity; Alice, finally, located in the highest area (about 420 m above sea level) gives the wine elegance, thanks also to the light breeze that regularly blows. The grapes are vinified in steel for about 15/18 days at controlled temperature; the wine then ages mostly in large Slavonian oak barrels for a period of 40 months. 20% of it spends part of this time (10 months) in barriques; the further resting in the bottle extends for 8-10 months.
GATTINARA TRE VIGNE TRAVAGLINI: THE TASTING
The Gattinara Tre Vigne by Travaglini presents an ancient garnet color and is clear. On the nose, it opens slowly and elegantly, offering balsamic sensations, dried flowers, cloves, warm earth, licorice, pine needles, iron traces, chinotto, all wrapped in an embrace of red and black fruit. On the palate, it expresses the perfect balance between the fascinating severity of the tannin, the overwhelming sapidity, and the softness of the aromatic tones. A wine to be opened slightly in advance, before enjoying it with simply sautéed wild boar chops with oil, garlic, and sage.
