The Barolo Lazzarito di Villadoria was born in the Lazzarito Vineyard, one of the most renowned among the additional geographical mentions of Serralunga d'Alba. A large, sunny mid-hill basin (400 meters above sea level) facing south-southwest, where the soil, with very ancient origins, is made up of calcareous marl of marine sedimentary origin. The average age of the vineyards is 25 years. The grapes, harvested by hand, are destemmed and pressed with great delicacy; the alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a maximum temperature of 28°C, with maceration ranging from 25 to 28 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously, then the wine ages in Slavonian oak barrels for a minimum period of 20 months, then another approximately 18 months in steel.
BAROLO LAZZARITO VILLADORIA 2015: THE TASTING
The Barolo Lazzarito di Villadoria is a clear light garnet. On the nose it has austere charm, with notes of dried violet, medicinal herbs, undergrowth, strawberry compote and mineral memories. The palate is powerful, with a solid tannic structure, balanced by great fruit flavor and a caloric embrace. Very good paired with a Roccaverano robiola and truffle risotto.
