Villadoria's Barolo Serralunga d'Alba comes from the selection of the most suitable family vineyards in the municipality of Serralunga, such as Lazzarito and Meriame. Looking at the map, it is clear that the territory of this important municipality is a band that extends from north to south and therefore has very different characteristics from side to side. The soil is composed of calcareous marl of sedimentary origin with a certain clay percentage. The Lanzavecchia family's vineyards here have an average of 25 years of age. The grapes, harvested by hand, are destemmed and pressed with great delicacy; the alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a maximum temperature of 28°C, with maceration ranging from 25 to 28 days. The malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously, then the wine ages in Slavonian oak barrels for a minimum period of 18 months, then another approximately 20 months in steel.
BAROLO SERRALUNGA D'ALBA VILLADORIA 2017: THE TASTING
Villadoria's Barolo Serralunga d'Alba is ruby tending towards shiny garnet. The nose opens on the floral notes of gentian, geranium and dried rose, then is enriched with cherry in alcohol, undergrowth, leather, black pepper and light tar. The mouth is well balanced between elegance and power, with great tannic expression blended with the juicy pulp. Excellent accompanied with baked tomini sprinkled with white truffle.
