The Bolgheri Rosso by Tenuta Meraviglia is made from 100% Cabernet Franc grapes grown in volcanic soils characterized by the presence of San Vincenzo rhyolites. The reference vineyards are exposed to the Southwest, at an altitude of about 150 meters above sea level. The red winemaking process, including maceration of the must on the skins, took place in raw concrete truncated-conical tanks. The alcoholic fermentation of the must occurred spontaneously, at a maximum temperature of 28°C, for a period of 13 days. The aging lasted 12 months in large, un-toasted French oak barrels, plus an additional 3 months in the bottle.
BOLGHERI ROSSO TENUTA MERAVIGLIA: THE TASTING
The Bolgheri Rosso by Tenuta Meraviglia is ruby red in color with purple reflections. On the nose, it offers aromas of cherry, raspberry, and small dark berries mingling with notes of Mediterranean scrub and hints of coffee powder, tobacco, and licorice. The taste is warm and intense, supported by sweet tannins and a long fruity and spicy finish. At the table, it pairs well with cheeses and hearty meat dishes, especially those based on red meats or game.
