Original and authentic Elixir obtained from the root and powder of Glycyrrhiza Glabra, typical of the Ionian coast. Produced by hand and in small batches from an ancient recipe, handed down from father to son for generations, where the use of both the root extract and the infusion obtained from licorice powder, allow you to create a unique product, with an original and intense taste. The
nose and palate therefore presents the typical scents of licorice derived from its infusion, but also more vegetable scents, due to the generous presence of the whole root in the precious mother tincture.

The history of Essentia Mediterranea project is intertwined with the history of Altomonte, a village in the heart of Magna Graecia, where small groups of monks and hermits arrived in the early 11th century coming from Sicily and the East, due to iconoclastic persecution and barbarian and Saracen raids. Thus began in the year 1021 the alchemistic tradition of the small village. No one would have imagined that that group of monks, led by Brother Delfino, would develop the first Benedictine settlement in Altomonte a few years later, giving life to the long tradition monastic and alchemist of that small village, experimenting over the centuries the production of tonics for medicinal purposes and in the sign of Sichelgaita's memory they continued to pass on and develop the recipe for his elixir. Starting from the elaboration of the ancient and secret recipe of Sichelgaita, developed by monks over the years, the Heroic Bitter is born today, a journey of the senses through time, history of a centuries-old tradition, original and authentic celebration of the Mediterranean essence.
