The Pinot Grigio by Livio Felluga is a wine that is decidedly representative, both for the company and for the territory, to the extent that it is the reference chosen for a selection of 1956 (the year of foundation) bottles packaged in the original version to celebrate the 50th anniversary of "Carta Geografica," the historic, never-replaced label. The soils are those typical of the area, Flysch of marls and sandstones of Eocene origin, also known as "Ponca." The harvest takes place in the first decade of September; the grapes are gently destemmed and left to macerate for a short period. They are then softly pressed and the obtained must is clarified through decantation; the must then ferments at controlled temperature in stainless steel containers. At the end of fermentation, the wine is kept on the lees in stainless steel containers for 6 months, followed by an additional 2 months in the bottle.
PINOT GRIGIO LIVIO FELLUGA: TASTING
The Pinot Grigio by Livio Felluga has a beautiful straw yellow color with rosy and coppery reflections. On the nose, it is kaleidoscopic, with notes of orange blossom, daisy, and wisteria, followed by ripe fruit with apricot, white melon, and yellow peach in evidence; sweet sensations of pastry cream and crème brûlée follow, well balanced by the freshness of citrus. On the palate, it is voluminous and crunchy, fresh and enveloping, with excellent aromatic correspondence and pleasant sapidity; the finish is taut and very persistent with an aftertaste of citrus and white fruit. It pairs wonderfully with a risotto with bruscandoli and mussels.
