The Viognier of Cantine Capitani is one of the latest creations of the company: the vines were planted in 2013 and went into production with the 2016 vintage. We are in Trevignano Romano between the north coast of Lake Bracciano and the slopes of Monte di Rocca Romana . Viognier, originally from the northern Rhône valley, is now widespread in Lazio due to its adaptability and excellent results found in the area. The harvest takes place at the end of September and the grapes are processed exclusively in steel.
VIOGNIER IGP LAZIO 2019 CANTINE CAPITANI: THE TASTING
The Viognier by Cantine Capitani presents itself in the glass with a straw yellow color of good intensity and slight greenish reflections. On the nose it has beautiful fruit notes, especially ripe peach and apricot, refreshed by pleasant citrus hints. When tasted it shows a good balance: fragrant softness well balanced by acidity and contained alcohol. Very good in the company of delicate seafood dishes, for example with a pink prawn tartare with lime zest, but also absolutely perfect as an aperitif, paired extra-regionally, with the Livornese chickpea and aubergine cake in oil.
