Morellino di Scansano Kamarte del Grillesino takes its name from the Etruscan toponym engraved on the late archaic stele of Saturnia, with reference to what is probably today a hamlet a few kilometers from the company, the Marsiliana. The grapes are Sangiovese and a small quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon, from vineyards at 260 meters above sea level, on limestone-clay soils rich in gravel. After manual harvesting and crushing-destemming, the must ferments in steel at 28°C. After about 15 days, the wine is decanted and stored at a controlled temperature to encourage malolactic fermentation; it then ages in French oak barriques (second passage) for 10 months, and another year in the bottle.

The Morellino di Scansano Kamarte del Grillesino is intense and concentrated ruby; on the nose it releases hints of black cherry syrup, bay leaves, capers, black olives and undergrowth. At the sip it has polite tannins, good flavor and length on the fruit. Perfect wine for the company of pici alla norcina, with sausage and truffle cream.
