The Gewürztraminer Merus from Tiefenbrunner is part of the Classic Merus line: the Latin term merus (pure) refers to the frank expression of the character of the grape variety. The grapes, which come from vineyards in Bassa Atesina, are vinified in concrete or steel tanks. The wines thus obtained are bottled young and fresh. Gewürztraminer, in particular, is produced with grapes coming from hilly vineyards exposed to the south-southwest in Cortaccia and Niclara (260 – 470m above sea level), on soils composed of calcareous gravel of moraine sediments in Niclara and clayey soils in Cortaccia. The fermentation is carried out in steel at a controlled temperature, followed by aging for 4 months on the fine yeasts in a concrete tank.GEWÜRZTRAMINER TIEFENBRUNNER: THE TASTINGThe Gewürztraminer Merus by Tiefenbrunner is bright straw yellow with golden reflections. On the nose it is generous in notes of ripe grapes and candied fruit, honey, oriental spices, sage and rose petals. The sip is soft and enveloping, with an extension of the fruit. Great with garlic chicken nuggets, sautéed bean sprouts and curried sweet potato mash.
