Fontana Candida's Luna Mater is the label that most demonstrates and glorifies the strong passionate work in the vineyard and cellar that the company has always dedicated to the Frascati denomination, a clear mirror of the territory. The production area includes the entire territories of the municipalities of Frascati, Grottaferrata and Monte Porzio Catone and part of the municipalities of Rome and Montecompatri. Fontana Candida owns 25 hectares of vineyards, 13 of which consist of the S.Teresa Vineyard. The hills on which the vineyards stand, at altitudes varying between 200 and 400 metres, are volcanic in nature and the climate of the area is Mediterranean, characterized by moderate temperatures. Malvasia Bianca di Candia, Malvasia del Lazio, Greco and Bombino are the grapes that generate Luna Mater: they are vinified in steel, then the wine is aged in barrique, then in the bottle.
FRASCATI RESERVE LUNA MATER FONTANA CANDIDA: TASTING
The Frascati Superiore Riserva Luna Mater by Fontana Candida is shining straw yellow with golden reflections. On the nose, wrapped in a flint scent, papaya, quince, cedar and ripe yellow peach initially dominate, then notes of chamomile, broom, acacia, oregano and mint open up. In the mouth it is warm and enveloping, savory and fresh; it extends over balms and citrus fruits. Perfect for carbonara.
