Ruby red color with garnet reflections given by the long evolution in the bottle, the nose is spicy with evident notes of aromatic herbs. On the palate full, of great depth, soft and spicy tannin.

Soil: quartzite, metarenaria, yarns, limestone marbles and dolomites.
Vinification: Harvest in mid-September, fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature for 15 days, total malolactic.
Aging: 18 months in oak barrels of 20 q.li and 5 years in bottle.

On the slopes of a hill near Montignoso (Massa Carrara) a few kilometers from the sea of Versilia is the Montepepe farm led by Stefano Poggi, an architect who became a winemaker by passion. The proximity of the Apuan Alps and the sea helps to create a unique and particular microclimate. These are places that have long been known for their winemaking vocation. The vineyards are divided equally between white grape varieties and red grape varieties, placed half a meter apart and cultivated in espalier, with oriented sapling pruning. Among the whites, Vermentino and Viognier stand out, while among the reds there are syrah and massaretta, a native variety grown in the province of Massa Carrara. The soils are characterized by a good acidity and a sandy texture. All winemaking and packaging processes are carried out in the ancient cellars, located on the ground floor of a historic villa that once belonged to Carlo Ludovico di Borbone, Duke of Lucca, and today hospitable resort and winary. The Company has shown in a short time that it is part of the excellence of a territory, has won numerous awards with its long-lived and rich mineral whites, and is made known with its fresh and spicy reds.
