Animated by the courage that every person who wants to undertake has, in the 1970s we planted the first Merlot vine on an unusual clay soil. An important challenge that in 1991 saw the birth of Lamaione, a lone, powerful and proud knight in the Montalcino landscape.
Lamaione talks to us about a great balance between the parties and an elegant, unconventional freshness. His is an intense and impenetrable color: ruby red with purple reflections. On the nose it plays with the fragrance of perfumes. The fruit plays the role of the protagonist, with a blueberry that pervades and is well balanced with fresh balsamic and menthol notes. The perceived fruit is not fully ripe but reflects a nice crunch. On the palate it is characterized by a nice tannic attack. The alcohol component and freshness are perfectly balanced. The finish is long and persistent.

Grapes: Merlot
Vinification: The Merlot grapes were carefully selected and harvested by hand in boxes. Once in the cellar for de-stemming, manual sorting of the berries followed. Fermentation was carried out in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with a maceration on the skins of about 3 weeks. Subsequently, the wine remained in aging for 24 months in 80% new French oak barrels; a further 12-month aging period followed in the bottle. At the end of this journey, Lamaione 2016 was ready to caress and pervade the palates with elegantly velvety and fresh sensations.

Creativity and the pursuit of excellence have been handed down over the centuries in all generations of the Frescobaldi family. In 1300, during the exile of Dante Alighieri, his poet friend Dino Frescobaldi brought him back the first seven songs of the Divine Comedy, thus allowing him to complete the work. In 1700, the baroque compositions of the famous musician Girolamo Frescobaldi spread throughout Europe. With great openness to the future, the family's ancestors introduced then unknown vines to Tuscany, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The 20th century is characterized by the action of Vittorio, Ferdinand and Leonardo Frescobaldi who have made an important contribution to raising Tuscany to a place of excellence for viticulture . Today he gathered the baton Lamberto Frescobaldi who, thanks to his long technical experience, aims to further strengthen the uniqueness of the wines of each estate in the family.
