Michele Chiarlo's Court Nizza Riserva was born in the estate of the same name, acquired in 1995 and designed as the "Chateaux of Nizza Docg": the former Aluffi estate, of nineteenth-century origin, is a single body of over 20 hectares, arranged on two hills. We are in the municipality of Castelnuovo Calcea, at 250 meters above sea level, with south-southwest exposure; the soils are part of the so-called Asti sands, made up of clayey-limestone marl of marine sedimentary origin, with a good presence of silt and sand, rich in microelements. This Nizza Riserva, which wears a beautiful label by the artist Giancarlo Ferraris, is pure Barbera. The yield is very low, in fact a green harvest is carried out leaving no more than 6 bunches on the plant; the grapes are fermented in 55hL oak vats with 15 days of maceration, with soft wetting of the cap. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is decanted half into barrique, half into large wood, where it matures for about a year, then it is assembled and left to refine further in the bottle.
LA COURT NICE RESERVE MICHELE CHIARLO: THE TASTING
The Court Nizza Riserva by Michele Chiarlo is dark ruby with purple reflections. On the nose it exhibits warm and bloody notes, hints of mountain herbs, blackberries and black cherries, coffee and tobacco. In the mouth it is broad and balanced, fresh and with a long aromatic development. Very good with tender veal with porcini mushrooms.
