The Barbera d’Asti Bansella Nizza DOCG by Prunotto is made from 100% Barbera grapes, grown in the estate vineyard called Bansella, characterized by clay soil rich in calcareous marls and veins of sand. After the processes of maceration and fermentation, the wine rested for 9 months in 2nd and 3rd passage barriques. The Barbera grape is the most widespread grape variety throughout Piedmont, and the province of Asti, in the Langhe, is one of the most suitable areas for its cultivation, along with Monferrato. The Barbera d’Asti Bansella by Prunotto falls under the Nizza DOCG designation (until 2013 Barbera d’Asti Superiore Nizza DOCG), which includes only 18 municipalities gathered around Nizza Monferrato (AT).
BARBERA BANSELLA NIZZA PRUNOTTO: THE TASTING
The Barbera d’Asti Bansella Nizza DOCG 2019 by Prunotto presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red color with purple reflections. The nose reveals aromas of violet, small ripe red fruits intertwined with notes of dark spices. Soft and full-bodied, on the palate it captivates with its lively yet profound freshness. Excellent persistence. At the table, it pairs well with braised red meats, medium-aged cheeses, and game-based recipes.
