Baccanera di Cascina Lo Zoccolaio is a blend of Barbera, Merlot, Nebbiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards located in Barolo and Monforte d'Alba, facing south-east, at 300 meters above sea level on marly-limestone soils. After the harvest at the end of September, done strictly by hand as per tradition, only the best grapes are selected. We then proceed with separate vinification by grape variety: destemming, soft pressing, and fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is assembled and matures in French barriques for 18 months and further refines in the bottle before being sold (the company has chosen a high quality bottle, with heavy glass, for better and longer conservation) .

Baccanera di Cascina Lo Zoccolaio has a dark and intense ruby color; on the nose the fruit reigns supreme, with wild berries in jam and dried plum in edible, then floral hints of withered rose and iris, light forest balms and hints of sweet spices and pepper open up. In the mouth it has good body, balance, freshness, fine tannins and a fruity finish. Excellent with roast duck.

Zoccolaio produces exclusively red wines with grapes from its own vineyards located in Barolo, Monforte d 'Alba, Novello and Verduno. Every stage of wine creation is followed with great passion and dedication. The grapes are lovingly cared for and respect for the rhythms of nature is the guideline of the approach used. The harvest is done by hand, without haste, selecting the best bunches to be expressed in the bottle. From the soft pressing of the grapes, to fermentation, to aging, up to the bottle, nothing is neglected, everything happens with respect of tradition but with the most modern methods and tools.
