Walking through the rows of Cabernet and Petit Verdot, my thoughts always run 150 years ago, when my ancestors first planted these varieties with the desire to produce a great wine. Since 1983, thanks to the commitment of my uncle Leonardo, this desire has been realized with the Cru Mormoreto, a wine with a vibrant, deep and harmonious character. Since 2013, a small amount of Sangiovese has further emphasized its elegance.
Mormoreto expresses a warm, enveloping and impenetrable personality like the season it comes from. At the sight it is intense ruby red and clear at the same time, concentrated and with a beautiful consistency. The sense of smell is pervaded by fruity notes of blackberry, blueberry and raspberry accompanied by a beautiful freshness. The balsamic and mentholated scents are well balanced with bergamot and jasmine. The spicing with notes reminiscent of clove and vanilla is not long in coming. The service sector is surprisingly integrated: tobacco, cocoa powder and coffee bean. Soft on the palate, but still supported by a beautiful freshness, with round and silky tannins. The finish is long and persistent.
Packaging: 1 bottle of 0.75 lt with wooden case
Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot
Vinification: The grapes from the Mormoreto vineyard were harvested manually in 15 kg boxes. After a first selection of the bunches in the vineyard, these were further selected upon their arrival in the cellar. This attention to detail has guaranteed the highest possible quality. The 2017 harvest produced very concentrated grapes; to optimize aromatic and polyphenolic extraction, fermentation and maceration were carried out gently, at controlled and low temperatures and with reduced number of replacements. The malolactic fermentation was early and took place immediately after racking. At the end of the year, Mormoreto began its aging process in French oak barrels, where it remained for the next two years, taking full advantage of natural micro-oxygenation supplied by oak. After bottling, the following months of aging allowed Mormoreto to balance itself, expressing itself to the maximum of its elegance and potential.

Creativity and the pursuit of excellence have been handed down over the centuries in all generations of the Frescobaldi family. In 1300, during the exile of Dante Alighieri, his poet friend Dino Frescobaldi brought him back the first seven songs of the Divine Comedy, thus allowing him to complete the work. In 1700, the baroque compositions of the famous musician Girolamo Frescobaldi spread throughout Europe. With great openness to the future, the family's ancestors introduced then unknown vines to Tuscany, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The 20th century is characterized by the action of Vittorio, Ferdinand and Leonardo Frescobaldi who have made an important contribution to raising Tuscany to a place of excellence for viticulture . Today he gathered the baton Lamberto Frescobaldi who, thanks to his long technical experience, aims to further strengthen the uniqueness of the wines of each estate in the family.
