The Chianti Classico Contessa di Radda by Geographico was born in 1978 and takes its name (and wears her face) from Countess Willa of Tuscany, mother of the famous Marquis Ugo of Tuscany, cited by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy as the "Great Baron". The Countess, founder of the oldest Benedictine monastery in Florence, the Abbey of Santa Maria, better known as Badia Fiorentina, was an active part in the history of Radda, Florence and the Chianti area in general. Contessa di Radda is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot; the grapes are vinified in steel and the wine then ages for 12 months in 100 and 55 hl barrels.
CHIANTI CLASSICO CONTESSA DI RADDA GEOGRAPHICAL: TASTING
The Chianti Classico Contessa di Radda by Geographico is bright ruby red; the nose is a bouquet of violets, enriched with strawberry, raspberry, mulberry and aromatic herbs. It is fresh on the palate, with lively but gentle tannins and a pleasant fruity flavour. A decidedly versatile wine, it is particularly happy in combination with Bolognese lasagna.
