The Barolo Priore of Cantine Povero is accompanied by the company with this phrase: "Nominated because it is the most cultured. The guide for a community, to whom the most important decisions were entrusted". The vineyards from which this Nebbiolo is born are on sandy soils and calcareous clays. The company owns 50 hectares in that part of Piedmont where Langhe, Roero and Monferrato meet and cultivates 7 native varieties, each in its most suitable territory. The Nebbiolo destined to generate the Barolo Priore was harvested in hand and vinified in temperature-controlled steel tanks; the wine then underwent malolactic fermentation and aged for 38 months in oak barrels and a subsequent period in the bottle.
BAROLO PRIORE CANTINE POVERO: TASTING
The Barolo Priore by Cantine Povero has an intense garnet red colour. The bouquet develops from withered violets and roses to cinnamon, goudron, undergrowth, and even plums, cherries, strawberries and liquorice. When tasted, it is soft and balanced, with subtle tannins and a long fruity persistence. How good with Castelmagno risotto.
