Bertani's Amarone Valpantena is made from 80% Corvina and 20% Rondinella grapes grown on marl-limestone and clay-limestone soils in the hills of Valpantena, a subzone of Valpolicella. After manual harvesting in mid-September, the clusters were arranged in single-layer crates for drying in the fruit-drying room of the Grezzana (VR) winery, to achieve a higher sugar concentration in the grapes. By mid-January of the following year, the grapes underwent destemming and crushing to proceed to the alcoholic fermentation phase, which started at a temperature of 4-5 °C and ended at 22 °C. Bertani's Amarone della Valpolicella Valpantena matured for 30 months in wood, mostly in 25 hl Slavonian oak barrels and partly in barrique. Before being marketed, the wine rested for 6 months in the bottle.
AMARONE VALPANTENA BERTANI: THE TASTING
Bertani's Amarone Valpantena presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses enveloping aromas of cherry, sour cherry, and small forest fruits in jam, which combine with notes of chocolate, tobacco, dark spices, and delicate hints of toasted dried fruit. The palate is rich and full-bodied, supported by a velvety tannic structure and a full taste played on fruity, spicy, and mineral notes. The finish is long and persistent. At the table, it pairs well with aged cheeses as well as opulent meat dishes based on red meats and game.
Amarone Classico Bertani is a timeless wine, an expression of a unique style that Bertani has always followed with dedication. A classic style that does not need to change, because it is always current. Amarone comes from Corvina and Rondinella grapes on the hills of Tenuta Novare, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica, in vineyards dedicated only to drying grapes. Produced by Bertani since 1958, Amarone Classico Bertani means perfect harmony between time, nature and man: to it we dedicate our know-how and our passion, with a long wait and great care. The grapes are rested on the “aréle”, the bamboo cane racks, according to the traditional production method. Fermentation in cement and aging in large barrels for at least six years make its structure stable, making it one of the longest-lived red wines in the world.
Estimated between Wednesday 7 May and Tuesday 13 May.
