The Amarone Lena di Mezzo 2017 by Monte del Frà is made from Corvina Veronese and Corvinone grapes with a small percentage of Rondinella. The original vineyards are located on tuff, clay-limestone soils located in the Fumane (VR) area, at an altitude between 250 and 350 meters above sea level. After a brief drying on the vine, the grapes were harvested in October and left to ripen in humidity-controlled boxes for over 100 days until the right sugar concentration was reached. The fermentation took place in small steel barrels on native yeasts, while the refinement took place for over 24 months in French oak barrels plus a further 8 months in the bottle.
AMARONE LENA DI MEZZO MONTE DEL FRÀ: TASTING
The Amarone di Monte del Frà Lena di Mezzo 2017 presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections. On the nose it releases aromas of black cherry and small red fruit jam intertwined with clear hints of dark spices and undergrowth. Enveloping and full-bodied, on the palate it reveals a rich taste supported by a velvety tannic texture and a decisive fresh-savory trail that persists in the long fruity and spicy finish. At the table it goes well with blue and mature cheeses as well as structured dishes based on red meat and game.
