The Amarone Campi Lunghi by I Campi is made from 85% Corvina and Corvinone grapes, 10% Rondinella, and the remaining 5% Croatina. The name comes from the long rows of 1 hectare of vineyard in Progno di Cellore, in the Alta Val d'Illasi; the vines are on average 30 years old, penetrating stony soils at 270 meters above sea level with a South-Southeast exposure. The harvest takes place between September and October depending on the season; according to regulations, the grapes allowed to dry for the production of “Amarone della Valpolicella” cannot be vinified before December 1st. The mass ferments in stainless steel and wood, the wine then ages on its own lees for 6 months and subsequently rests in the bottle for at least another 12 before being released for sale. “Amarone della Valpolicella” wines must undergo an aging period of at least two years starting from January 1st of the year following the grape production.
AMARONE CAMPI LUNGHI I CAMPI: TASTINGThe Amarone Campi Lunghi from the company I Campi presents a deep ruby red color; on the nose it is dense with fruit and sweet spice; on the palate, it is savory and balanced, with soft tannins and great length. Very good with roast duck and its red fruit sauce.
