The Brunello di Montalcino from Canalicchio di Sopra is made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes, with 60% coming from the Montosli cru and 40% from the Canalicchio cru. The vineyards are located on clay and galestro soils, at an average altitude of 300 meters above sea level. The red winemaking took place in stainless steel at controlled temperatures with a maceration of the must on the skins for 25 days. The aging lasted for 36 months in Slavonian oak barrels of 25 and 50 hectoliters.

The Brunello di Montalcino from Canalicchio di Sopra stands out with a brilliant ruby red color. On the nose, it displays aromas of ripe red fruits, violet, and underbrush intertwined with hints of balsamic herbs, fine woods, and dark spices. The palate is deep and structured, supported by silky tannins and a persistent finish of sour cherry, tobacco, and spices. It pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and rich dishes based on red meats or game.

Since 1962, an active part of the quality development of Montalcino, actors protagonists of a beautiful and generous territory. Canalicchio di Sopra is the story of a company that has traveled the history of Montalcino viticulture over the past 50 years, its growth and its worldwide success: the first bottle of Brunello di Montalcino “Canalicchio di Sopra” was produced in 1966. In 1967 Canalicchio di Sopra was one of the 12 founding brands of the Brunello di Montalcino Wine Consortium.
