The Promis by Ca' Marcanda Gaja is produced from Merlot (55%), Syrah (35%), and Sangiovese (10%) grapes grown in the Bolgheri area of Livorno province. After the harvest, which was followed by a further and careful selection of the bunches, the grapes were sent for vinification inspired by minimal intervention, as was the work in the vineyard. After the alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation phases, the Promis Toscana Rosso IGT 2017 by Ca' Marcanda Gaja aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. This Tuscan red, proud and elegant, represents a true challenge - launched and won - by the king of Barbaresco from Piedmont, Angelo Gaja, who decided to bring his brand of excellence to another land with a very high winemaking vocation: Tuscany.
PROMIS CA' MARCANDA GAJA: THE TASTING
The Promis by Ca' Marcanda Gaja presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it expresses aromas of ripe sour cherries and small red berry fruits that combine with timid balsamic hints and clear notes of black pepper and dark oriental spices. The tasting is rich and enveloping, supported by a smooth tannic structure and a gentle freshness combined with an elegant minerality that lingers in the finish. At the table, it pairs well with succulent meat-based recipes featuring red meats or game.
