The Guidalberto by Tenuta San Guido is made from 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot grown on partially clayey soil, characterized by calcareous areas rich in stones and galestro (friable rock typical of the Tuscan Apennines). The vineyards are exposed to the south/southwest at an altitude between 100 and 300 meters above sea level. After the winemaking phase, the wine rested for 15 months in French oak barriques (with a small portion in American oak). The name of the wine is inspired by Guidalberto della Gherardesca, great-great-grandfather of Nicolò Incisa della Rocchetta, manager of Tenuta San Guido and son of Mario, creator of the famous Sassicaia first marketed with the 1968 vintage.
GUIDALBERTO TENUTA SAN GUIDO: TASTING
The Guidalberto from Tenuta San Guido captivates the eye with its intense ruby red color. Enveloping aromas of cherry and berries combine with hints of herbs and dark spices, creating a broad and seductive olfactory profile. Elegance and fullness of fruit characterize the sip, with smooth tannins and a gentle freshness that enhances its pleasantness. The finish is incredibly persistent. At the table, it pairs well with semi-aged cheeses as well as with first and second courses of land based on red meats or game.
